Q: Will insurance pay for all or part of a med flight?
A: Although insurance usually does not pay for medflights, we can assist in creating a stronger claim with greater potential to get insurance companies to pay. Please call us first before you notify you insurer so we can give you important information concerning insurance coverage for medical flights.

Q: How quickly can I get a med flight?
A: Flights usually can be arranged quickly, and often can take place within 2 hours after your initial call.

Q: When a flight is arranged, what happens next?
A: One call or email to us and we will make all the necessary arrangements. Our goal is to make your patient's medical flight transfer as easy and simple as possible. You will receive email or a callback detailing all operational aspects of your medical flight as soon as they are available.

Q: What do I need to do to be ready for the flight?
A:After we inform you of your schedule, you just go to your patient's hospital room and wait the ground crew and transportation to arrive.

Q: Can I accompany the patient?
A: In most cases up to 3 family members may travel with patient aboard the medical flight

Q: What happens when the crew arrives?
A: A ground ambulance will arrive and carry you and your family and patient to the airport, usually to within 20 feet of the aircraft.

Q: What can I take with me? Can I carry luggage?
A: Any nessessary luggage may accompany the patient and family.

Q: How is a life flight different from just chartering an airplane?
A: Medical flights are certified and approved by the FAA and are ACLS certified with stretcher, RN, oxygen, suction, heart monitor and defibrillator, plus any other emergency equipment that may be required, such as a ventilator and Respiratory Therapist. Medical flights also receive special handling from air traffic control while in the air.

Q: What else do I need to know about?
A: Our medical flights provide food or refreshments for the patient and passengers.

Q: Are there any special requirements for international med flights?
A: You will need all the documents normally required for international travel, such as passports and visas. Due to customs restrictions, passengers will be required to remain on or near the aircraft during any ground stops.

Q: Are medical flights tax deductible?
A: Acording to the IRS, you may deduct transportation costs primarily for and essential to medical care that qualify as medical expenses. If in doubt, consult a tax professional for a definitive answer.
